In late October, Kelly Johnson, 24, of St. Augustine, was treated for what is being identified as a dangerous water born bacteria present in Florida waters.
For the past four years, St. Augustine has welcomed fall with open arms due to the anticipation of Oktoberfest celebrations. Primarily held at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, this past weekend this weeks Oktoberfest celebration will be held at the St. Augustine Beach Pier and Pavilion.
The increasing popularity of home brewing and craft beer has reached St. Augustine.
A formidable smell of cigarettes and stale beer accompanied the crowded in a dimly lit venue called Nobby’s. Despite it’s dilapidated appearance, there was a particular comfort within the tired walls.
St. Augustine and some of its residents can prove to be very quirky and interesting people. Ancient City Stories is a new series first aired early this October produced by Flagler students and alumni that seeks to shed light on notable St.Augustine locals. The show has been picked up by CW-17 in Jacksonville and airs once a week on Sundays at 6 pm.
Haven Hospice, a not-for-profit organization in North Florida, gave a new definition to shedding light on an unfortunate situation this past weekend by hosting a 5K fundraiser that welcomed all ghouls, witches and humans dressed in goofy costumes.
Ryan Kunsch is doing something not many 23-year-olds are doing: he’s opening up his own brick and mortar store called Planet! Sarbez! on Anastasia Island.

The Floridian, a local favorite, offers fresh from the farm southern comfort foods. The restaurant was opened three years ago by a Flagler alumnus and offers a little something for herbivores and omnivores.
