Journalist Chris Gordon to speak at COM week

For Chris Gordon, interviewing a quadriplegic skydiver, covering a story where two officers were fatally gunned down at the U.S Capitol building, or taking part in the O.J. Simpson trials is what he does on a daily basis.

He tells the story. As a reporter and legal analyst, Gordon has made a name for himself in the field of broadcast journalism.



Fine Arts Guild set to host Dancing for Diabetes event

For junior Kristen Matulewicz, becoming the president of the new Fine Arts Guild means bringing a little of her home to Flagler College.

Matulewicz, who was raised in Oviedo, Fla., said she has been involved with Seminole County’s Dancing for Diabetes for six years as a performer. She said she looks forward to bringing the event to Flagler’s auditorium on Sunday, Feb. 12.





Flagler’s women head volleyball coach resigns

Flagler College women’s head volleyball Coach Taylor Mott has announced her resignation, effective at the end of the year. Mott and her family will relocate to Tennessee where her husband, Brian, has taken a job.



Standing Strong

With his hands around my neck, I looked up at the man standing in front of me, and for a split second I didn’t know what to do. Running through the list of moves I just learned, I sandwiched my hands against his palm and shoved his arms off of me to the applause of the other women in my group. “Good job,” he said, before walking over to the woman standing next to me and testing her with another move.

Outside of the Virginia Room, it was a scenario that I always carried in the back of my mind but assumed would never happen. I would like to think I could defend myself, but barely reaching five feet I knew it was unlikely.


Students embrace new Flagler pep band

The Flagler College athletic department is starting a Flagler pep band to increase the enthusiasm of the crowd at home games.

Jud Damon, Director of Athletics at Flagler College, is the originator of the idea and hopes that it will bring a more exciting atmosphere.

Flagler College students have already shown interest.

Ryan Erlacher, assistant Athletic Director, has high hopes for the pep band’s success at future basketball home games.
