Recent Flagler College graduate Adriana Sicari was awarded the 2006 Student Promise Award by the North Florida Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
She was the only student in the region to receive the award.
According to the PRSA, this award is given to a student who has “achieved significant results with a pro bono project or a non-profit organization; or the student may have conducted an effective public relations campaign regarding an important issue on campus.”
The five recipients of this year’s PRSA awards were honored at the organization’s holiday social in Jacksonville on Dec. 7.
The Student Promise Award “recognizes a college student majoring in public relations who demonstrates exceptional promise as a professional,” according to the PRSA.
Nominations for the award must be made by a fellow student before receiving approval from a professor or PRSA chapter liaison. For her nomination, Sicari submitted a two-page narrative describing her development and implementation of Flagler College’s Communication Week.
Sicari, who graduated with honors on Dec. 9, holds a degree in communication with a focus on public relations. She was actively involved with the Public Relations Student Society of America, serving as the chapter’s president, and Flagler’s Dow Advantage, a student-run public relations agency.
