No matter what happens during the regional tournament, Flagler College junior Jillian Unitas says that the season has already been a huge success for the volleyball team.

“It’s hard for a team to win regular season and conference tournament two years in a row, especially since we added and incorporated different players into our roster,” Unitas, the teams outside hitter, said.
“However, it would be an incredible season to get to go to Nationals again.”

Flagler College volleyball Coach Taylor Mott said that even though Saturday’s conference win against Montevallo put the team’s destiny in their own hands, being able to help a local St. Augustine cancer patient Ashley Daniel meant more than anything.

“It is such an amazing feeling to be able to help someone, especially someone as near and dear to us as Ashley is,” Mott said.

Flagler Volleyball is off to a great start again as it comes back from a historic season that included a run to the Final Four.

The Saints are currently ranked 22.

Taylor Mott, head coach for Flagler College Saints’ volleyball team, was happy with the team’s results in their first four games.

“I think we did some amazing things in spurts,” Mott said. “We played scared at times, but I think some of the positives that I saw were just incredible.”

‘Voice of the Saints’ impacts Flagler athletics

I remember when I first met Clay Coffman my freshman year. I was sitting in the Lewis lobby watching SportsCenter on the free cable provided by Flagler when Clay and a few other sports fanatics walked in talking about the past Heisman Trophy winners, a Flagler intramural game or just trash talking each other about their favorite college football team. Whatever it was, it involved sports.
