Volleyball dispatches ex-conference foes with ease

Last week Flagler Volleyball proved one of the reasons that made the move to NCAA Div. II a no brainer. They have moved a step above the competition in the Florida Sun Conference.

The Lady Saints entered action on Sept. 26 with a record of 13-5 facing rival Embry-Riddle. Flagler handled Riddle top to bottom and the victory was never in doubt as a sweep came with relative ease. The series between the Lady Saints and the Eagles seems to have lost its past luster as Riddle struggles to keep its head above water this season at 10-11.

Hey Heidi Klum, you play fantasy football like a girl!

So this season I got talked into joining a fantasy football league. No one seemed to be bothered by the fact that I could only name a handful of NFL players (all quarterbacks) or that I would rather comment on the teams’ uniforms (What is up with Miami’s color scheme anyway?) than their football skills.

Or maybe that’s exactly why I was asked to join. Who knows?

Volleyball splits weekend pair, falls for first time at home

The Flagler College Lady Saints volleyball squad returned to action Friday after a six-day layoff and picked up right where they left off.

The Lady Saints extended their winning streak to six matches with a 3 games to 1 victory over NCAA Div. I Stetson University.

In the first game, Flagler would not trail after going down 1-0 on the first point and cruised to a 30-19 victory.

Hi, my name is Carrie, and I’m addicted to technology

Lately I’ve had the sinking feeling I’m tethered to technology. (I think I’ve even blogged about it before.) And this past week on vacation, I realized there’s no escaping it.

I checked my E-mail (both work and personal) at least a half dozen times and fielded several work phone calls. Granted, the week was anything but ordinary. (Do I have a knack for timing or what?) But the fact remains, I cannot let go of my electronic communication.

Spending 10 hours in front of the TV watching pre-game shows, games, and then the post game shows? Why does one invest so much energy into watching one team during a season, following their every move like it was their last?
