By Devon Jeffreys

It may have been Friday the 13th, but the Lady Saints volleyball team didn’t let their demons get the best of them.

The Lady Saints took the court with a cloud hanging over their head – a four game losing streak that stretched over two weeks. The last two of those losses came exactly a week prior in Savannah and the time off gave Flagler plenty of time to think about their mistakes.

The Lady Saints took a number of shots at Blue Raiders goaltender Lisbeth Skjodt, but could not put the ball in the back of the net. Despite that inability to score, Coach Teddy Meyer was very impressed with his young team.

Two feet up from the ground, a marker on the walls symbolized how high the slaves’ excrement got before the traders drained it. Above the female slave quarters, free men worshiped their God while snickering that the African women below were not good enough for God to love.
