YouTube: Wasting time with unicorns

As a responsible college student, I spend many hours a week studying for all of my classes. Between all of the assignments I get, you would think I would have an issue with finding free time.

There is one thing, however, that I always find the time to look at: YouTube.


Sit and Talk with Jake

Local band, The Showdown District, is on the rise. Recently, the band was hand picked by Illumina Records to be part of a compilation CD that will be sold nationally.

Comprised of four long-time friends, the band has incredible chemistry that leads to its catchy laid-back sound. Jake Sulzer sat down with the group at the Lightner Museum to discuss their CD “Welcome to Lincolnville” and their upcoming shows in Orlando and Jacksonville.

Flagler College partners with Salvation Army for ‘Flagler Feeds’

Flagler College students, faculty and staff are working with the Salvation Army to provide Thanksgiving dinner for more than 220 area residents who are in need.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, 28 area families will have Thanksgiving Dinner in the Flagler College Dining Hall at 7 p.m.

This event is the first of its kind for both Flagler College and the Salvation Army.

“I was inspired by the mission of the Salvation Army and continue to be inspired by the generosity of the entire Flagler College community,” Flagler College student and Club Liaison Chris Bacca said.

Flagler dance team qualifies for nationals

Flagler College’s dance team, “The Blaze,” made history on Nov. 3, as the first Flagler dance team to qualify to compete on the national level, when the Universal Dance Association announced the qualifying collegiate teams for the National Dance Team Competition.


Birthdays sure ain’t what they used to be

So, my birthday is this Saturday and despite what you might think, I’m not so excited about it.

Sure birthdays used to be an electrifying occurrence, something to be looked forward to for months. And then the magic day would arrive…presents, cake and a party! Hours upon hours of a celebration of me!

Birthdays used to be a time when you would look forward to getting older, wanted to be the age of an older sibling who had more privileges (or a better wardrobe).
