SIFE BLOG: In Charlotte!

We arrived at our hotel in Charlotte, NC at one o’clock, after a seven hour bus ride from St. Augustine. The ride was quiet, most of the team stayed up the night before and packed or worked on the presentation.
We left at 7 and had a massive bagel and donut breakfast on the bus.


SIFE BLOG: Flagler SIFE ready for regionals

The last day of practice went great today. Yesterday, we performed a formal presentation for some of the college staff and they loved it. We’ll be meeting at 6:30 in the morning for the seven hour road trip to Charlotte, NC. The 40 team members are hoping to get some sleep on the ride up along with some Q&A and presentation practice.

Drugs, violence wear down order in Mexico

Dallas Morning News Foreign Correspondent Alfredo Corchado thinks Americans need to invest more interest in helping Mexico battle drug cartels.

Only a few days before Corchado’s scheduled Monday speech at Flagler College’s Communication Week, a group of high-profile federal officials led by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced a trip to Mexico City to pledge more U.S. support in the fight against drug cartels.

DOW Advantage partnered with Learn to Read to help promote and raise awareness of the annual Kiss the Pig event.

On Saturday, the KTP contest will take place during the Rhythm and Ribs Festival at Francis Field from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. LTR of St. Johns County, Inc. tutors fast track reading, math, English for Speaking for Other Languages (ESOL) classes and helps with preparation with GED and Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) testing. LTR tutored over 300 students last year.
