Former Alaskan state representative turned St. Augustine business owner, Liz Snyder, has created a hub for community, arts and activism in uptown St. Augustine. After living in Alaska for 13 years, the Florida native returned to open Spinster Abbott’s, a bodega, taproom, music venue and bar.
Spinster Abbott’s has been hosting a civic happy hour series called Taproom Tap Ins for almost a year. Taproom Tap Ins are a monthly lecture series that encourage civic engagement and often focus on environmental issues. Driven by her background in public health work and politics, Liz uses a community-oriented lens to run her business that has made Spinster Abbott’s a place where civic discussion thrives.
