Panama Hattie’s on Anastasia Island will host its annual Halloween Party on Oct. 31. It starts at 9:30 p.m. and goes until closing time with admittance for those 18 and up. There will be two DJs on the top and bottom floors, and the band “Skif Dank” will begin performing around 11 p.m. There will also be a costume contest that will give out up to $1,000 in prizes.

When I walked into the Auditorium on the opening night of Hot*l Baltimore, the first word that came to mind was detail.
Before the show started, I took in the dynamics of the set, from the huge working clock telling the audience the time in the show to the “marble” stairs to the caution tape across one of the doors. Music from the ’60s and ’70s was playing to complete the nostalgic effect.

On Oct. 4, the alternative rock band Jack’s Mannequin performed live at Plush nightclub in Jacksonville.
Jack’s Mannequin frontman Andrew McMahon has had a bumpy road since taking a hiatus from Something Corporate, another piano-rock band that he fronts. McMahon was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia right around the time of the release of Everything in Transit in August 2005.
