As a responsible college student, I spend many hours a week studying for all of my classes. Between all of the assignments I get, you would think I would have an issue with finding free time.
There is one thing, however, that I always find the time to look at: YouTube.
What started as a small video site has taken on a life of its own. I first stumbled upon YouTube last semester. I was elated when I realized that I could watch whole episodes of Reading Rainbow, Salute Your Shorts, and Are You Afraid of the Dark?
I actually spent one whole night watching episodes of those shows. (I know, I really need to get a life.) My life returned somewhat when pesky copyrights got in the way and those shows were removed.
In addition to the nostalgia of kids’ show intros, there is also a whole world of random videos on YouTube. Any average Joe can create a video or cartoon with his friends and post it for all of the Internet world to see. Some of these videos are incredibly lame, but others are surprisingly hilarious.
It takes a certain kind of sense of humor for someone to laugh at a unicorn having his inner organs harvested. That is just what happens during a video of Charlie the unicorn and a few of his friends on a search for Candy Mountain. I was shocked to find myself laughing at the situation and crazy voices.
When school gets too stressful, I like to peruse YouTube for a bit. But don’t take my word for it.
