The Flagler College Theatre Arts Department will present Benchworks II in the black box theatre of the auditorium Nov. 8 -11.
It is a unique concept that was done last semester, and which the department chair Phyllis Gibbs brought back this fall.
“It is a bunch of scenes that have a bench as a part of it,” cast member Zephian Michaels said.
The facilitator, D.J. Lee, is the driving force. In theatre lingo he would be called a director.
“I am not directing, I facilitate, and I am their outside eye,” Lee said. “We go through three stages, getting to know each other and coming up with ideas, filter those ideas and sharpen up what is going to be in there. We might cut a couple of scenes and put in others at the Limelight Theatre.”
The end product is still up in the air. The students wrote out their ideas and now they will act them out.
“It is very cool to see both sides of the process,” Michaels said.
Tickets are $6, there is limited seating — not wheelchair accessible — and some scenes contain mature language.

The show will also be presented it in the Limelight Theatre Jan. 12-13.
