Player Profile: Margo Brown

By Meghan Hubbell

The 2006 Lady Saints golf team is led by standout senior, Margo Brown. Brown began playing golf seriously when she was 14. Growing up, her family played golf on the weekends, and she began as a fun way to spend time with her family. She received a scholarship to play on the golf team at Flagler and looked forward to the opportunity to move from Nebraska to Florida.

This year started a little disappointing for her personally. Her scoring average was higher in the fall that it had been in past years, but in her last tournament, she played with confidence and at the level she had.

The team’s scores fluctuated this season, but they believe they have the potential to shoot well at Regionals. The girls are all on the team because they love golf and they love to compete, so together they have great team chemistry.

At the Regional Tournament, Brown took eighth place with a 21 over 165, 11 shots back of the leader.
After graduation, Brown is moving to Scottsdale, Arizona and would like to work for a golf course or for a golf equipment company. In her spare time she plans to work on her writing. Golf will always be a very important part of her life, but she has no aspirations to pursue golf professionally.

Brown has enjoyed her time at Flagler both in the classroom and on the golf course, “I feel like my experience as both a student and an athlete at Flagler has given me the best college experience I could have ever asked for,” she said.
