Prof. Torgerson accepts position in Spokane, Wash.

By Bailey Toombs

All good things must come to an end. Dr. Beth Torgerson, known to her students as Dr. Beth, will be leaving Flagler College at the end of this semester.

Torgerson arrived at Flagler in the fall of 2002 and has since taught freshman composition, British literature, Victorian literature, 18th, 19th and 20th Century literature, and post-colonial literature.

One of her favorite experiences at Flagler was an opportunity to lead a study abroad class to England during the summer of 2004.

“I taught a course called the Brontës’ England and we were able to visit Haworth, York, Scarborough and London,” Torgerson said.

Torgerson will be returning north as she goes on to teach at Eastern Washington University in Spokane, Wash. While there, she will teach 19th and 20th Century British literature, and will be teaching both undergraduate and masters level courses. Some of these classes are for education majors, so she will be preparing students to teach English at the high school level.
