Flagler Volleyball Adjusts to Coaching Change

Flagler volleyball started the season with some big changes. Matt Affolder was named the new women’s volleyball head coach in March of 2014. Affolder has been coaching college volleyball for 14 years and Flagler College is the first Division II school Affolder has coached.




Flagler falls to Armstrong in women’s volleyball conference championship

This past weekend the volleyball team entered the Peach Belt Conference Tournament as the Number two seed due to their second place finish in conference play. They finished the regular season with a 20-9 record.

The Saints took on Lander University in the semifinal match and won three sets to zero.

Then on Sunday for the finals, the Saints were matched up against long-time rival Armstrong Atlantic State University who won the regular season Conference title this year. The Saints started out strong taking the first set, but then Armstrong Atlantic answered back by winning the next two sets. Flagler was determined to send the finals into the fifth match and was successful by winning the fourth.



Women’s volleyball set to overcome challenges

With the season under way, Brian Heffernan looks for success in his first year as head coach of the women’s volleyball team.

With five starters returning, younger players moving up the ranks and the acquisition of three freshmen, Heffernan faces the challenge of incorporating his style of play to those who are unaccustomed to his tactics.


Saints fall short, but prove they can compete

The Flagler College Saints volleyball team showed that they were not a pushover Tuesday night against No. 7 (AVCA Division II Top 25) University of Tampa.

The Spartans of Tampa defeated Flagler College 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-21) at the Flagler Gymnasium.



Flagler’s women head volleyball coach resigns

Flagler College women’s head volleyball Coach Taylor Mott has announced her resignation, effective at the end of the year. Mott and her family will relocate to Tennessee where her husband, Brian, has taken a job.
