Men’s basketball head coach Bo Clark was recognized for his exceptional leadership at the “Honoring the Legends” banquet held in the Ponce De Leon Dining Hall.

Flagler College honored Clark along with baseball coach Dave Barnett and tennis coach Walter Shinn for 25 or more years of coaching. The banquet featured a social, silent auction and dinner which was held the day before, but in union with the Flagler College President’s Golf Classic.

He finally did it. John Calipari of the Kentucky Wildcats has managed to get his first NCAA Championship after 24 years of coaching college men’s basketball. But with this glorious celebration comes the bittersweet moment of saying goodbye to many of the players that made this season possible.

Many of Calipari’s squad this season will be entering the NBA Draft in June, including freshman Anthony Davis, who is speculated to be the first pick in the draft, in addition to winning the 2012 National Player of the Year and NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player awards.

Men’s basketball continues Clark legacy this season

They always say like father, like son. Sons often aspire to be just like their fathers, mimicking what they say, how they dress and even how they act.

For Flagler men’s basketball coach Bo Clark, he is literally following right in his father’s footsteps–in more ways than one. Clark played for his father, Eugene “Torchy” Clark, on the UCF Men’s Basketball team, and now he coaches his own son, Matt Clark, on the Flagler team.

New year’s resolutions are never easy. Nor are they always followed through to the end. But for Elijah Hayes, backup point guard for the Flagler Saints, his first resolution is already coming to a successful close.

Hayes’ aim was to abstain from meat, dairy, refined sugar, starches and flour for 21 days. No easy task when he had practice six days a week and played 1 to 3 games a week. But Hayes said it was worth it.
