Greg Good, owner of Vino del Grotto, picked a strange economic time to start a business. But, he said he did so “because of the economy.”
Good opened the vino several weeks ago.
“I follow Sam Walton [founder of Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club] very closely,” Good said. “I believe in what he did. When times get tough, you grow. If you downsize, you’ll fail.”
The new Vino del Grotto is the third location in downtown St. Augustine.
Good’s entrepreneurship is paying off. Many locals are visiting the new Vino del Grotto, according to Good.
This Vino del Grotto is different from the other two locations.
“This store opened up as retail and it will be consumption and a wine lounge,” Good said. “It will be a quiet setting where people can come on a date.” The other two locations are strictly retail.
“What we have here is nothing you find at Winn Dixie, Publix,” Karoline Good said, Greg Good’s wife who also helps manage the store. “We have artisan and craft wine, desserts, and cheeses.”
“We thrive on the unusual,” Good said.
