Men’s soccer looks to continue streak against GSW

Flagler College will be hosting Georgia Southwestern in a grudge soccer match this Wednesday at Saints Field. The GSW Canes has not scored a goal against the Saints since the first game they played in 2008.

In the Saint’s last game against the Canes, Flagler recorded a shut out with a final score of 3-0.

Joseph Toby, a veteran mid-fielder, hopes to keep it a tradition.

“My confidence is big going into Wednesday’s game, but at the same time Georgia Southwestern has a new team and so do we,” said Toby. “I’m really confident in my new teammates and our style of play.”

Last year Toby assisted in a goal against the Canes that helped to seal the victory. This year Toby leads the team in assists recording five in just six games.

Flagler has started the season defeating high-ranked teams such as the No. 6 Young Harris Mountain Lions 5-1 along with No. 21 Limestone 3-0.
