Kathleen Quillian, a Flagler College communication major and graduating senior, was named the Grand Award winner of the fifth edition of Anthology, a print publication produced by the college’s online newspaper, The Gargoyle.
Quillian’s winning piece, “Title IX Flagler,” was a video for the Communication Department’s newscast, FCTV Newscenter. Quillian is the creator and executive producer of the newscast.
The Society of Professional Journalists Student Chapter’s Social Justice Reporting Award went to graduating senior Alexa Epitropoulos. Epitropoulos, a graduating Communication major, is co-editor of The Gargoyle and winner of last year’s Anthology Grand Award. She won for her news feature “Even With Food Stamps, the Poor Still Struggle.”
The 2015 Anthology, a full-color publication released in April, showcases students’ work in journalism, opinion, photography and video/multimedia.
The Anthology was created in partnership with the Dow Advantage Public Relations, a student-run PR firm at the college, as a way to showcase the best of student media work at the college. Communication Department faculty select top entries in each category and then pick a Grand Award winner.
