Drop show promises fashion and music

Fashion and music will collide at the Drop Show on April 9 at Push Push Salon. The event begins at 8:00 p.m. at the Push Push Event Hall located at 299 San Marco Ave.

The Drop Show will feature a runway fashion and hair show with musical guest BLORR, followed by an after party where DJ’s from Classic Blends will spin their signature beats.

The runway show will feature the latest collections from Florida based and local companies. Paper Root Clothing, Peninsula Holding Co., Jbon clothing, Dejoc, Standard Collection and the Push Push Creative team will all be there to showcase and sell some of their newest fashions. Those in attendance can even bring their own t-shirt and $5 to the Paper Root Clothing booth for screen printing. Each clothing line is heavily connected to music to show the full span of their creative influences.

Gregory Dettra is the owner, manager and designer of Paper Root Clothing. He co-created the Drop Show with DJ Hu of Classic Blends.

“We’ve spent the last couple months pulling our industry contacts together to get some of the most up-and-coming brands from around Florida to participate, as well as adding the live music aspect to make this an event that St. Augustine won’t forget,” he said.

BLORR is comprised of two men, who go by the names “Cookie” and “Hot Damn.”

“They are the element that is going to put this show over the top,” Dettra said. “Their live show is frenetic, and mixed with the runway, it’s going to be sex.”

They are currently on a nationwide tour that’s been underway since March 9. The band is excited to come to Florida before heading up the east coast.

“We love St. Augustine,” BLORR members said in an email. “We have played a couple times at cafe 11 and it’s always a really good time, so were excited to come back.”

Push Push is a salon in St. Augustine that caters to artists of all mediums. DJ Hu said he is a fan.

“[It’s] a space that creative individuals can call home,” he said. “It’s a real cultural epicenter for the town.”

Because it is uncommon for salons to host fashion shows, DJ Hu said their main goal was “to utilize all our unique skills and visions into a cohesive voice for this event.”

“If you like clothes and fashion, you need to come to this,” Dettra said. “If you like having a good time, you need to come to this. That’s it.”
