Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live
By Nick Massie
It’s time to throw your G’s up with the release of Lil Scrappy’s first single debut album, Bred 2 Die Born to Live. This album truly brings “money in the bank.”
This album has an all star line up of collaborations. Scrappy, of BME and Lil Jon fame, has also joined up with 50 Cent and G-Unit to make this album an eclectic mix of a Southern crunk vibe twisted with the catchy, mainstream beats that are G-Unit. Collaborating with the likes of Yung Joc, Young Buck, Olivia, 50 Cent, Three 6 Mafia, Bo Hagon, Young Dro and Lil Jon, how could Scrappy possibly go wrong?
With his debut single, “Money In The Bank,” Lil Scrappy, along with Young Buck, delivered a simple beat with heavy lyrics. As Scrappy states in that song, “50’s got me, Lil Jon’s got me, I’ve got a big ol’ squad how are you gonna stop me?”
“Touching Everything,” a track featuring Yung Joc and produced by Jazze Pha, has a typical Jazze vibe laid under Scrappy’s heavy voice. “Lord Have Mercy” is the last track on the album which is produced by Eminem. This track has a very soft feeling that is easy to move your head to. It’s basically the token religious track on a hip-hop album.
Then there is the secret track titled “Oh Yeah.” Featuring fellow members of Lil Jon’s squad E-40 and Sean Paul (of the YoungBloodz), this song could easily become a single. Its got the feeling of Lil Jon on it with hardcore southern voice of Sean Paul and fun voice of E-40. Paul and 40 seem to be working a lot together on BME releases.
In all, this album is worth the few bucks it costs to buy it. It’s an overall good rap album that has everyone you want to hear on it.
