Bariaa Shatila, Flagler College Math, Science, and Technology Department chair, was stranded in Beirut, Lebanon with her two sons visiting family when Israel fired missiles last Wednesday on the country’s only airport.

In an effort to alleviate some of the parking issues on and around campus, Flagler College will institute a new parking policy beginning with the fall 2006 semester which will include an option for students to purchase a decal for the new city parking garage on Castillo Drive.

On May 16 Flagler College hosted a kick off ceremony for the art building renovation project.
According to the President of Flagler College, Dr. William T. Abare, Jr. the project is going to cost around $5.4 million and take approximately 18 months to finish. The renovation will consist of the existing art building and the connected steam dynamo boiler room.

Flagler College held its spring commencement ceremony April 22 and handed out more than 320 diplomas to graduating seniors. A separate ceremony for six students graduating from Flagler’s Public Administration program was held later in the day in the Flagler Room.

Florida college students will see their wallets fattened now that the state legislature has increased the Florida Resident Access Grant to $3,000 per student.
The so-called FRAG was created in 1979 by the Florida Legislature to assist Florida residents attending private colleges and universities in the state. The $3,000 dollars awarded per student this year is the highest amount in the history of the grant, according to the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida.

Six months after graduating, most college graduates will get a brand new responsibility: paying back student loans.
A 2003-2004 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study found few students can afford to pay for college without some form of education financing, and two-thirds of undergraduate students go out into the real world with an average debt of over $19,000.
