So this marks the official start of my 24-hour “technology fast.” I ended my dependence on television with an episode of “Heroes,” which just ended. Starting this right before bed was a good idea. I’ll knock out eight hours or so of this technology independence in what feels like an instant. I’ll get a real feel for how this will go during the day tomorrow.

In a world with so many new gadgets being made everyday, we sometimes don’t even realize that we use technology constantly. I tried to go back to the old days before we had internet and MySpace and remember what life was like.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have classes from eight in the morning till five in the evening. I choose one of these days to go without technology because there would be a decreased opportunity for me to be tempted because I would spend half of my day in school.

Many Americans, including this writer, feel the same exact way. Rarely do we take the time to sit back, relax and enjoy ourselves. Our society is very money driven, and the more schooling and hard work you put in, the bigger your salary becomes.

Three years ago, the state of Florida returned as a stop on the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour as a four-star World Qualifying Series event. Though it is only a WQS event, many of the world’s top surfers still compete in the contest because it is the first stop of the new season, as well as its running in conjunction with the industry wide Surf Expo trade show in Orlando.
The Sebastian Inlet Pro took place Jan 5-11, with the Surf Expo following it Jan 11-14. Since its first go around in 2005, the Inlet Pro has been dominated by its own Florida pros – 2005’s winner was Gulf Coaster Cory Lopez, and 2006 and 2007’s winners were Inlet locals and twins Damien and CJ Hobgood, respectively.

His teammates call him “old man” but for the Flagler College men’s basketball team this season, Sam Jozenville has been the man.
Jozenville has put the Saints on his back in the last few weeks and is the main reason why Flagler (9-11) has been successful of late.
Jozenville, a senior, has two 30-point games this season including a career-high 31 in a loss to Edward Waters
