The fall season brings a lot of change with it. From the cooling weather to the slew of holidays, there is a lot to get excited about. But one other thing should come to mind as you begin to dress warmer: Flagler Creates!

Flagler College will host the second annual Flagler Creates! handmade festival on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the West Lawn on Sevilla Street.

The festival offers Flagler students, faculty, staff, alumni and Flagler families the opportunity to display and sell items they have created. The event is not only an occasion to build the Flagler College community and relationships within the college, but the local community as well. All participant entry fees will benefit the Flagler College Annual Fund.

There will be a large variety of handmade items offered for sale, including books/book-signings, artwork, jewelry, sewn items, clothing, accessories and photography. There will also be raffles held for various items, which will also benefit the Flagler College Annual Fund.

“The abundance of creativity and talent at Flagler College is apparent at the festival,” said Flagler student Lauren Streett, who sells her own handmade necklaces and participated in last year’s event. “For most students, including myself, it is a great opportunity to test drive selling handmade goods and get firsthand experience with business skills.”

Flagler Creates! is the brain child of Marsha LeDuke, administrative support for the college’s Counseling Center, and Shonas Kibbee, assistant registrar, who both thought that it would be a great idea to hold a handmade festival involving the entire Flagler community.

LeDuke noted that last year’s Flagler Creates! was highly successful.

“Flagler Creates! raised over $1,000 last year for the Annual Fund,” she said. “In addition to raising the money for this contribution, the total number of contributors to the Annual Fund increased, which helps the college receive additional grant monies.”

LeDuke also noted that this year’s event will have “more vendor spaces … increasing the total number of participants who will be able to sell and market their items. We will be having a food truck here serving burgers, etc. and we will have live music. … We are also advertising Flagler Creates! in more publications and on more on-line sites this year.”
