The Flagler College volleyball team walked into the Peach Belt Conference Tournament as conference rookies and walked out as conference champions.
It has been a long wait for the Saints, who entered into the PBC just this year. Head coach Taylor Mott believes that her team, marching onward with a 24 game winning streak, deserves this title.
“We worked really hard this season and finally have something to show for it,” Mott said.
Ever since the Saints embarked on their winning streak, their level of confidence has catapulted them to unstoppable success. Mott says that the key to the victory over Armstrong Atlantic was for the players to just be themselves.
“We just played confident,” Mott said. “We have the ability. We can only be ourselves. We took each point and made it an individual game.”
The Saints hope to continue their success in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals against Lees-McRae in Wingate, N.C. The Saints claimed victory over Lees-McRae earlier in the season with a score of 3-1.
“As long as we stay relaxed and focused, we will beat Lees-McRae again,” Mott said. “It’ll be hard for any team to beat us.”
