Theatre Arts Dept. presents ‘All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten’

“Do you want the ultimate answers to life?” reads the flyer for Acting 1 class’ musical play entitled “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

Take a break during finals week on Dec. 10 and mosey on over to the Flagler College Auditorium at 7 p.m. and you might just get an answer to one of your questions.

The aforementioned musical play follows the lives of former kindergarten students and how, as adults, they think back to their very first year of school and the lessons they learned.

Acting 1 is composed of about 30 students from every grade. Phyllis Gibbs and teacher assistant Kelly L. Smith direct the play, although every other aspect is carried out by the students.

The jobs consist of a stage manager, choreographer, and a person is even in charge of warm-ups. The students double up for onstage duties and backstage responsibilities.

“We learn a lot about the different jobs,” freshman Kara Goldberg explained, who not only has a part in the play, but is also in the production. “I had to figure out how to do stuff, like publicity, for free.”

The show starts at 7 p.m., admission is $2, and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
