Study Abroad in Australia

Flagler is offering another study aboard trip in the summer of 2008. This one is in Australia. Students can earn three credit hours and use them for sports management or as a free elective.

On the trip, students will visit five regions in three weeks including Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Cairns, just to name a few. They will have an opportunity to see the Rain forest and the Great Barrier Reef, visit Steve Irwin’s zoo, and experience the Sydney Harbor and Opera House among other things.

Students will also visit businesses, including the Australian Institute of Sport, the Sydney Stock Exchange, the Australian Sport Commission, and the Sydney Olympic Games sites. All Aussie Travel and tour guide Craig Douglass, a native Australian and a sport management graduate from the University of Western Australia, will host the group.

The trip is currently scheduled for June 17 to July 7. Dr. Brian Pruegger, the sponsoring faculty member, is excited about the trip.

“The students from the previous trips just loved it, I mean it’s a completely different experience then over here,” Pruegger said.

Pruegger has taken two pervious trips to Australia, one in 2005 and one in 2007. He will host an information meeting Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Gamache Theater in the Student Center.

All interested students are invited to attend.
