CD Review: Nine Inch Nails

CD Review: The Everyday Visuals

Things Will Look Up

By Ashley Emert

I had never heard of The Everyday Visuals until I saw them open for Bleu, a musician from Boston, at Jacksonville University. I fell in love with their music as soon as I heard it. An indicator of a good band is when I first see them live and I can’t help but dance and wish I already knew the lyrics so I could sing along, and that’s what happened when I saw them perform.

The most interesting thing about The Everyday Visuals is that none of the band members only play one instrument exclusively: the bassist also played drums and the drummer also played keyboards (as did the lead singer and guitarist). This versatility comes through in their second album, Things Will Look Up.

CD Review: Hilary Duff

Dignity

By Taylor Toothman

I’m so embarrassed. I like Hilary Duff. Well, maybe I should say “like.” I finally tolerate her. She and her Lohanesque pop peers nearly had me turned off to music completely, but I’m a big fan of multiple chances. Although Lindsay Lohan and several others botched theirs, and although I knew there was a possibility that my musically sensitive ears would bleed, I decided to try. And, lo and behold, Duff’s fifth (!) album Dignity isn’t all that bad. Dare I say it, I even put a few songs on my iPod.

Baseball player’s relationship with his leather goes far beyond the foul lines and the field

By Devon Jeffreys

For baseball players, it’s all about the leather.

From the first days of tee ball all the way up to the pros (for some), the glove remains a constant.

Bats go from wood to metal and back to wood again, but that leather material is always there to pick up a ball player even on an 0-4 day at the plate.
