Outrageous textbook prices

The little brunette girl behind the counter at the school bookstore couldn’t stop smiling when she muttered the words “$203.52.”

I was speechless once I remembered that this wasn’t the total cost for all of my textbooks required this semester, but just for one.





Carmelo’s to open restaurant

The most convenient store in downtown St. Augustine just got a little more convenient.

Carmelo’s owner Joe Tringali has owned the corner Shell for 20 years. He is adding Carmelo’s Pizzeria to the bistro and gas station, ideally on March 21.




SIFE hits home with new project

Flagler College’s Students In Free Enterprise team will be hosting Cardboard Campout on the West Lawn on Friday, April 2 to raise awareness and money for its newest project, “Containers for a Cause.”

With “Containers for a Cause,” SIFE plans to build homeless transitional housing facilities from about 15 to 20 old railroad shipping containers. SIFE has already received one 40-foot shipping container, a donation from former St. Augustine mayor George Gardner.

The Flagler basketball season comes to an end. With the experience of one year in a conference under their belt, the women’s basketball team are ready to prepare for next year.
