Looking for yoga? Lots of possibilities off-campus

Yoga focuses on the physical and mental part of your body, making it an activity favored among students at Flagler.

“I love yoga because it relaxes my body and muscles and gives me a great workout at the same time,” said senior Amanda Cassella. “I have a hard time making it to the scheduled classes because I have such a hectic schedule.”


Local talent on men’s soccer team

Head men’s soccer Coach John Lynch says he likes to have players from all around the world on his team. But more and more he’s balanced that with local talent.

“It’s great because 10 years ago there weren’t really any players from this area,” Lynch said. “But now every year there are players that can play at the college level.”


Volleyball team helps breast cancer victim

Flagler College volleyball Coach Taylor Mott said that even though Saturday’s conference win against Montevallo put the team’s destiny in their own hands, being able to help a local St. Augustine cancer patient Ashley Daniel meant more than anything.

“It is such an amazing feeling to be able to help someone, especially someone as near and dear to us as Ashley is,” Mott said.


Volleyball brief

After winning their last two matches, the Flagler women’s volleyball team is ranked No. 2 according to the most resent NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll.

Leading the Peach Belt Conference with an 8-1 record, the Saints have been going strong and have won nine-out-of-their-last-11 matches.


Flagler sophomore helps to stop bullying in the community

Even after Flagler sophomore Alexandra Evans moved away from her Pennsylvania hometown, she was still bullied by old classmates through her MySpace account. What began as a few sarcastic comments on her pictures turned into Evans being forced to turn her profile private from everyone.


Many Flagler students say Rutgers suicide reveals consequences of bullying and discrimination

The recent suicide of a Rutgers University student opened the eyes of Flagler College students and spread conversations around the country. To raise awareness about the dangers of cyber bullying and the ongoing discrimination of homosexuals, many Flagler College students showed support by wearing purple on Oct. 20.

Club Unity of Flagler College chose to join in a nationwide movement called “Sprit Day” where supporters of LGBT rights could wear purple to show their support.

Doc says fad diets may be more harmful than healthy

Flagler senior Christina Arzapalo lost 40 pounds within three months of being on a fad diet. Only one thing went wrong – her hair was falling out.

“Everything was great at first,” Arzapalo said. “The basic diet is a lot of eggs, nuts and lean proteins like turkey…you can’t have any caffeine or juice or fruit for the first two weeks and that was the hardest.”
