Surf team prepares for the big competition

The Flagler College Surf Team prepares themselves for the National Scholastic Surf Association East Coast Championship this weekend.

As the semester continues to wind down, the surf team trains for the most important part of their season. The team will go to New Symrna in the hopes of winning. The win will allow them to advance to the next rounds of competitions, which take place in California this summer.

Rock and roll legend right here in town

Stan Lynch is St. Augustine’s resident rock star.

Lynch is known for being the drummer of the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. He is a producer and songwriter and in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Gainesville, Fla., where he began to play the guitar and piano.

He said he thought he would become a guitar player, but he found the drums on accident.
