By Tiffanie Reynolds | gargoyle@flagler.edu

Starting fall 2013, students may be seeing more days off in the school year.

The academic calender resolution, passed by the Faculty Senate September 14, is planning to bring two extra holidays in the fall and three holidays in the spring. Along with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it adds Labor Day, Veterans Day, Presidents Day, and one more day to Thanksgiving break and Spring break. It also gives students the Thursday and Friday before finals off as study days.

Men’s soccer team loses close match against Lander

By Jeremy Petty | gargoyle@flagler.edu

The Flagler College men’s soccer team suffered a tough, 2-1 loss Saturday night when they played Lander.

The game began with a promising start as Flagler had a couple of early chances that would have given them a two-goal lead. In the first few minutes, Pol Berenguer played a ball from mid-field to Zach Shanahan who beat a lone defender with a great move to the outside. Unfortunately, the shot was pushed just wide of the right side of the net, missing by a small distance.

“2.” I said, “well, 8.” I corrected my sloppy thoughts with a simple math equation.

The painting from the garbage

By Phil Grech | gargoyle@flagler.edu

I have a painting hanging up in my bedroom that I found in the trash about ten years ago. People are always surprised to hear that when I tell them because it’s a great painting. Why anyone would have wanted to trash this thing is beyond me. It’s a nice painting and it beats decorating your house with the same Target prints and black light posters your friends have.
