As the spring semester gets underway, so does another important event in St. Augustine; the Saint Augustine Film Festival.
Each year, the town hosts the festival, showcasing a wide variety of films across three different locations. However, you won’t need to travel far to attend. Films will be screened at the Corazon Cinema and Cafe, the St. Augustine Distillery, and even our very own Lewis Auditorium.
The festival is known for showcasing the works of Flagler College students, faculty, and alumni. Some of these include Professor Tracy Halcomb, whose film “Cracking Aces” will be playing at both 1:45 at the Corazon on Friday and at 4:00 at the Gamache-Koger Theater inside of Lewis Auditortium.
Another exciting addition to the lineup is Mallory Hopkins, a Flagler alumna who will be showcasing a short film titled “Oldest City Underwater” on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Auditorium. The latter will be shown free to the public.
On Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Corazon, more Flagler work will be showing at the student showcase.
Alongside these works, the festival also showcases films from a variety of different countries. Just a few of the countries that will be represented at the festival include Italy, Germany, Russia, and even Greenland.
The Saint Augustine Film Festival runs from Thursday, Jan. 17 to Sunday, Jan. 20. Tickets for each individual screening are $7 with a student ID. You can purchase tickets beforehand on the festival’s website or you can purchase them at the door. You can also find the complete film schedule on the website as well, at staugfilmfest.com.
