SGA: Student Life proposes change

Student Life Committee proposed some big changes around campus at the March 9 Student Government Association meeting.

Committee leader Kyle Jennette proposed an online add/drop form, more efficient registration and a relaxed inter-dorm visitation policy, among other things.

Community Service announced its upcoming fundraiser, Dodge Ball for Doggies, which students may sign up for at $25 per team of five or $5 as a single person. Sign ups are taking place in Ringhaver Student Center from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until March 12.

The event will feature music and a dodge ball tournament which will raise money for homeless pets. The money will go toward reopening the local Humane Society. The tournament is March 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Flagler Gymnasium.

SGA Treasurer Jeff Wheeler granted $118 for a barbecue being held by S.A.M. Club (Students for the Advancement of Management) March 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

SGA vice president and secretary talked about the upcoming staff appreciation breakfast, where students go around campus serving breakfast to professors to thank them for their work during this past school year.

First Chair of Academics Committee Jim Stiller announced the Learning Community Forum went well and that a senate faculty meeting would be held next Wednesday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Flagler Room.

Campus Concerns announced its idea to have black and red recycled bags promoting SGA, and Spirit Committee discussed a possible pool party when the weather warms up.

Green Committee said its gardening projects are going well and that they’re getting positive support from the gardening community and the religious community that is sponsoring some of its gardens.

Publicity is currently promoting dodge ball and upcoming SGA elections, which are being held school wide. SGA applications will be available March 22 and are due March 26.
