Senior spotlight: Tyler McKendree

Senior Tyler McKendree is single handedly pitching Flagler’s baseball team into victory and Peach Belt Conference play.

The Saints are 11-11, two months into the season. McKendree’s pitching record is 3-0 and he says he’s satisfied with the team’s season so far.

“I feel great that we have done as well as we have so far,” McKendree said. “We had a few events that set us back, but we have overcome and proceeded to beat five ranked teams, one of which was ranked No. 2 overall at the time.”

McKendree is also optimistic about the team’s standing in the Peach Belt Conference.

“I feel good about our start in the Peach Belt,” McKendree said. “We took two from Augusta State, who won two games against Columbus State, a ranked team.”

McKendree said that the Peach Belt is a tough baseball conference and the team has a lot of work ahead against UNC Pembroke, Francis Marion and USC Aiken, all ranked teams.

“I think that it will be a tough challenge, but I feel that we will come out fine,” McKendree said.

He hopes this season to win 30-plus games and to make it to the Peach Belt Conference tournament in May.
