Player Profile: Leigh Ann Moss

Junior transfer, Leigh Ann Moss from Fort Pierce, Fla. consistently dominated the Flagler Women’s tennis team at the No. 3 spot.

“She has an interesting story,” Coach Walter Shinn said.

Moss contacted Shinn when she was a senior in high school, but chose to accept a two year, full scholarship to Broward Community College. She finished her sophomore year at Brevard placing third in the NJCAA national tournament. Following her junior college success, Moss contacted Shinn to see if he had a spot for her at Flagler.

In her first year at Flagler, Moss has played some of the best tennis of her career.

“I really like the atmosphere here, and there is no pressure,” Moss said. Part of what she enjoys most is her teammates. “They make it worthwhile to be here,” she said.

Moss’ greatest strength is her drive to succeed in the sport. She is always one of the first out to practice and the last to leave the courts.

“She is the best fighter we have, she never gives up,” Shinn said. She battles for every point in each match. “I always try my hardest.”

Moss has played in the three spot all season; however, she has had some practice in the one and two spot.

“She is playing well for us this season,” Shinn said. “She knows about team tennis.” Looking ahead to the future Moss would like to build on her mental toughness and ultimately win more matches.
