The Men’s and Women’s basketball teams will be hosting a pep rally on Thursday, Oct. 15, to kick off the season.
The rally starts at 9:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. Student Government Association’s Spirit Committee is providing pizza after the rally to all students wearing school colors.
Flagler College senior Josh Thompson said he scheduled the pep rally to give students an opportunity to support the two teams’ entry into the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference. Under NCAA rules, the teams are officially allowed to practice Oct. 15.
“This pep rally is a great way to give the team our support,” Thompson said. “We need to give them the confidence and energy to kick start a great season.”
The rally will include several events: a slam dunk contest, 3-point shooting contest, two ball contest and a coed scrimmage between the Men’s and Women’s teams.
The Flagler Cheerleading squad will teach the crowd a new cheer for the new season, according to Thompson. Also, the Flagler Dance team will perform a routine.
“We are really excited to show the Peach Belt Conference who Flagler College is,” Thompson said.
