The Flagler College Saints bullied their way to a 4-0 victory over the Wingate University Bulldogs, marking the second scoreless game by Wingate in the past two meetings of the teams.

Zach Shanahan opened up the floodgates, scoring his first goal for the season with a pass from Johan Bergfeld from the middle.

Just 26 seconds later, Joseph Toby scored a wide open shot off of Cameron Will’s deflection, marking his third goal for the season.

The Saints’ barrage was not through yet, however. With 10 minutes left in the first period, Mack Hough scored off of a header from a pass by Pol Berenguer. The Saints sat on a comfortable 3-0 cushion.

The second period continued to be unsuccessful for the Bulldogs, as none of the players were able to score and the Saints’ goalies always seeming to be a step ahead of the competition.

Flagler’s goalies Aaron Beers and Camp Bissell contributed for a total of 8 saves (Beers 3; Bissel 5). Peter Trask and Julian Garcia from Wingate each recorded 2 saves, with Trask allowing 3 goals and Garcia, 1.

The nail in the coffin of Wingate came with 10 minutes left in the second period, as Simon Kennell scored the first goal of his collegiate career off of a cross from Marco Padilla.

Wingate was out-shot by Flagler 22-20.

Flagler also won 3-0 against Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, Sept. 14th, advancing their record to 3-1-1.
