Men’s soccer turns it around

After an abysmal fall season finishing 2-13-2, the men’s soccer team found their form this spring.

“On a scale of one to 10 the fall was a one and the spring was a seven,” Coach Lynch said.

The saints opened the spring season with a 7v7 tournament where they reached the semi-finals. With only 14 players to chose from, they faced back-to-back games against Jacksonville University and University of North Florida. The saints defeated UNF and narrowly lost to JU.

Fitness has been the key to their success this spring.

“Players are fitter than they have been,” Lynch said.

The saints then played another team they lost to in the fall, Florida Institute of Technology and showed a lot of character to go on to defeat them. The men then hosted a team from Ireland, which turned out to be the most exciting game of the spring.

Sophomore Conor Killeen has been inspirational and pleased with the efforts of all 14 players throughout the spring.

“We have got together as a team and are looking forward to the fall season,” he said. “We have worked really hard in the last four months.”
