The Flagler College men’s cross country team finished sixth of nine teams in last Saturday’s Peach Belt Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships, held at Pacer Path on the campus of USC Aiken.
Leading the way for the Saints was Mike Lambert, who earned first-team all-conference on his way to a fifth-place finish. He ran 26:42.43 over the 8K course.
Corey Mundy came in second for the Saints finishing eighth, followed by Alex Bonus (19th), and Matt Goodman (46th).
Augusta State claimed its first ever conference championship with four runners finishing in the top 12.
To go along with a strong performance, Mundy was also named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, and shaved over 50 seconds off his previous 8K pace at the same course.
Bonus was also awarded All-Academic Conference honors for the third consecutive year.
The Saints will spend the rest of this week preparing for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 5.
