Journalist Chris Gordon to speak at COM week

For Chris Gordon, interviewing a quadriplegic skydiver, covering a story where two officers were fatally gunned down at the U.S Capitol building, or taking part in the O.J. Simpson trials is what he does on a daily basis.

He tells the story. As a reporter and legal analyst, Gordon has made a name for himself in the field of broadcast journalism.

“We must always be curious about people, what effects them, how to best communicate with them through ALL media and distribution platforms,” Gordon said.

As evidenced by his Emmy Award for “Hard News,” Gordon not only can tell the story but knows how to communicate that story to his audiences. He has worked as an anchor, an interviewer and reporter for over 25 years. Gordon is currently a legal analyst and reporter for NBC4 in Washington D.C.

This high powered and knowledgeable journalist joins the Flagler community on Monday, March 5 for Communication Week. He will be the keynote speaker for the College’s seventh annual event held March 5 thru 9, 2012.

“I am honored and pumped about delivering the keynote address to kickoff Flagler’s Communication week,” said Gordon. “I hope to learn as well as lecture.”

Gordon is now following and tweeting students about COM Week. Gordon has also re-tweeted the Flagler College communication hash tag on his own wall.

Not only had Gordon won Emmy Awards, but he contributes in the legal field as the founder LawScope, which is a legal website that pairs the journalistic integrity of broadcast news with legal resources. Gordon has twice been awarded the American Bar Association’s Certificate of Merit for his television series.

“It is important to understand that you need to develop relations with people based on trust,” Gordon said. “Your credibility, reputation and rolodex are key.”

While Chris Gordon is in the field of reporting and law, he is also about to communicate to the students of Flagler College his knowledge and survival in the field of communications. His address, like his tweets, is direct and to the point. His clarity in his communication is one that has already been recognized, but will now be seen through the eyes of the students.
