Inner Child

Contributed by Lauren Belcher

The feelings overwhelm me so I go inside.
Inside is where she hides, if I can find her.

Clawing through the darkness I continue to search.
If I find her, everything will be OK again.

Where is she?
Just when I need her most, she’s nowhere to be found.

Close your eyes and go inside.
Look around for a girl in the corner.
Sitting cross legged with her face buried in her knees.

Tell her ‘It’s OK’ and ‘everything will be alright.’
Watch as she looks up at you and smiles.
Everything will be OK.
