Ten points for Flagler College for holding the first Hogwarts House Party on Nov. 5th!
The newly formed Co-Sponsorship Committee, made up of Ringhaver Student Center, Student Activities, Residence Life, SGA, CAB and Resident Assistants, organized the successful event.
The Hogwarts House Party consisted of a Quidditch matches, Harry Potter trivia, crafts, a costume contest and themed food.
Students especially enjoyed the Quidditch match on the West Lawn. Brooms were used, but no one swallowed the snitch!
“The Quidditch games were so much fun, honestly more than I expected. A couple people, including myself, were talking about starting a Quidditch club at Flagler,” Flagler College junior and Harry Potter fanatic, Joey Frongillo said.
The dining hall was transformed into the “Great Hall” of the Hogwats castle and a sorting hat told students which house they belonged to. A hypnotist was there to put the witches and wizards of Flagler College were put in a trance.
“I was skeptical about the hypnotist at first but it was insane how it actually worked and the feeling after was amazing,” said Frongillo.
Lexi Evans won first place in the costume contest as Minerva McGonagail, but she was impressed by the event decorations. “I would like to say that the dining hall looked brilliant! The owls and music were great touches,” said Evans.
Carly James, the new Director of Student Activities, believes the event was a success and said there was a lot of great feedback. About 400 students dined in the transformed dining hall and around 300 students participants in the student center, of which 230 played the Harry Potter Trivia.
“My favorite part was just seeing how excited the students were to take part in this event, whether it was decorating or getting sorted, their enthusiasm was contagious! It was a great event and a really fun night,” said James.
“I would go every semester, if I could,” said Evans
