Have you ever touched a Western Hognose before? Well, I have. It felt smooth and slimy. And it felt different from the alligator because the alligator skin felt like big bumps in a road.
The St. Augustine Allagator Farm has a Western Hognose Snake they call Harley. He is friendly. If Harley gets scared, he will roll over and stick his tongue out of his mouth. No one will want to mess with it or kill it.
Tonia, an employee at Allagator Farm, as been working with Harley for five years. Harley is different from other snakes because his fangs go behind his jaw. Hognose Snakes can grow up to 3 feet (90 cm) but most of them grow to 2 feet (60 cm). Hognose snakes can lay up to 39 eggs in the summer.
