Flea Market offers fun shopping

Easy, cheap and diverse shopping only miles away on State Road 207

The holidays are almost here, and everyone wants to find one good place to shop for everything they need.

With Jacksonville malls forty-five minutes away, it would be nice if there were somewhere closer to shop besides Target and the St. Augustine Premium Outlets.

Luckily, there is some extremely diverse shopping just seven miles away, at the St. Johns County Flea Market.

Although I wasn’t impressed when I drove up to the RV/Flea Market sign and pulled into a grass lot that overlooked a large tin-roofed enclosure that stood lonely at the end of a dirt road, my mind was quickly changed as I saw what the market had to offer.

The first table I approached was Game World. This store is located in Palatka, but has a table at the market to reach out to customers in the St. Augustine area.

The booth consisted of a wide variety of used video games for only five dollars, along with an assortment of cell phones, CDs and movies.

The man running the table said that if there is a specific game that a customer is interested in that Game World does not have at the market, they will bring it the following week.

The area at the market that sells local produce is enormous. Fresh tangerines were piled up at one booth. I was only going to get one, but when I saw the sign that read “10 for $2,” I could not let such a good deal pass me by.

The clothing section of the market included designer knock off sunglasses that are two for $10, and with the way I lose mine, this also seemed too good to be true. They also sell quality knock-off wallets and purses from high-end names like Dolce & Gabbana and Coach.

As I continued to walk around I noticed a huge variety of random things. I could get just about anything I needed here.

One stand was selling 400-thread count bed sheets for only $20, or a set of two for $35.

Everywhere I looked there were good deals. At one point I came across jewelry at Larry’s Jewel Box, which displayed a lot of extraordinary pieces. There was also fun and casual handmade jewelry at a stand called Troy and Roses. The stand sold things for as low as 99 cents.

If you seek good deals and a unique, convenient shopping experience, try the St. Johns Flea Market. It is located at State Road 207 and I-95, and is open every Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ATMs are available.
