Flagler volleyball earns close victory against Pembroke

In a Peach Belt Conference match Saturday afternoon the Flagler College Women’s volleyball team came away with a close 3-2 win against University of North Carolina Pembroke.

The Flagler College Saints won the 1^st and 3^rd sets and finished off the match with a 5^th set victory.

“We really had to be smart with our hitting and put the ball where they were not,” Crystal Niederriter, junior middle blocker, said. “They were very scrappy and picking up a lot of good hits.”

Niederriter contributed to the match with seven kills in 16 attempts. Olivia Snipes led the Saints with 58 assists and both Dianna Craine and Abby Meyers had a team high 17 Kills.

“We are a group of stubborn and competitive girls,” Snipes, senior setter, said. “Throughout this season, we have shown that no matter how close the game is, or how far down we are, our team will never give up.  We don’t stop believing until the deciding match hits 25.”

The Saints now have an 18-6 record and are 8-1 in conference play. 

“This team is very talented, but we are still working on playing with confidence and trying to cut down on our errors, we make a lot of errors,” Taylor Mott, head coach of the Flagler College volleyball team, said.

Flagler College will host Augusta State at 7 p.m. this Friday in the Flagler College gymnasium.
