“Creative Wave” event awards a Flagler graduating fine art student

The first “Creative Wave,” a new art event that took place at the Anchor Boutique, attracted many locals art enthusiasts and artists on Friday, March 10th.

A portion of the proceades made that night were awarded to Flagler College senior Jackson Holbrook. Holbrook, who said he will “absolutely” continue pursuing art after graduation and was excited to receive the scholarship. The funds will aide in buying future art supplies.

Holbrook uses a wide range of mediums such as oils, graphite and sculptures. “I’m mainly interested in figure. There’s some sort of portrayal of the figure that is realistic in the form. I like experimenting with color in some way. Maybe colors that you wouldn’t naturally see on the body.”

Holbrook has exhibited his art work at Anchor Boutique before and is no stranger to the shop.

“…He does wonderful paintings,” said Laurel Baker, owner of Anchor Boutique. “I just see a lot of potential with him.”

Lindsey Williams, the founder of Creative Wave, invited Flagler alumni artists to showcase their art that night and wishes to inspire student like Holbrook in following their dreams in the art world. “There’s so much talent and so much drive that there’s no way that any of those dreams should be forsaken,” Williams said. “The point of this event is to create a synergetic hub for artists to exchange ideas. I want their dreams to be met.”

According to Williams, “Creative Wave” will appear in St. Augustine again and continue to encourage and award other art students like Holbrook.
