Club UNITY hosts Larry Smith

Club UNITY will sponsor the presention of Larry D. Smith on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Flagler Room.

Smith will speak about his experiences as an openly gay lawyer and community activist in Orlando. He will also touch upon his experiences as a legal advocate for gay rights and the legal aspects regarding GLBT issues.

He is an accomplished lawyer in Orlando, and is also a advocate of gay rights. He was named person of the year by the Orlando Sentine” a few years ago for his contribution in proposing and passing legislation concerning equal rights in the workforce for homosexuals. Smith is also the founder and Managing Partner of Cabaniss Smith Toole & Wiggins, PL.

A member of the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama in 1979 and eventually graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in May 1984. In addition, he has also served as the Phi Alpha Delta legal society’s Vice-Justice in 1983 and has spoken at such schools as Mercer, UCF and Barry Law School.
