Coach Walter Shinn and Assistant Coach Rachel Gould organized a “kids day” on Nov. 18, a community outreach to get the tennis team involved with the community.
The kids were able to learn and play tennis with the Flagler men and women’s tennis teams. Approximately 20-25 kids age 10 and under participated. It was a free event at it was hosted in the Flagler Tennis complex.

Each semester the Flagler College Surf Team competes once a month for four months, adding up to a total of eight preliminary contests per year. For every victory or placement, the team earns points. These points are gained to qualify for the East Coast Championship, which takes place early in April.
The club’s goal is to achieve third place or better, which advances them to the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association) college title. Once completed, the surf team takes a trip out west to California in the summer for a week to compete for the national title.

Flagler College men’s soccer was upset by Wingate University 2-1 in a NCAA Division II National Championships Third Round Match on Nov. 15 at Saints Field.

If having the pressure on your shoulders to host the NCAA Division II Championship soccer games at home field is not enough, adding pressure of going into penalty kicks with one of the top teams in that conference can be overwhelming. This is exactly what happened to the Flagler College men’s soccer team.
Due to their winning record within the Peach Belt Conference, the men found themselves hosting the championship tournament at home, with each game being an elimination round. This is extremely stressful for a team, knowing that the game they are currently playing, could be their seniors last game as collegiate athletes.

Last season, Flagler College Saints Men’s basketball player Matt Clark expected that he wouldn’t get much playing time since he was a freshman.
“I initially felt that I was going to be the 6th or 7th man and come off the bench and be a three point threat,” Clark said.

After a scoreless regulation and overtime, the second-seeded Flagler College men’s soccer team outscored sixth-seeded UNC Pembroke 4-2 in a shootout in a second-round match of the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship on Saturday night.
Ryan Hanson, goalkeeper for the Braves, could not follow up on his perfect record during regulation and overtime of 12 saves, allowing all four of the Saints’ shots during the shootout to go past him.

The Flagler women’s soccer team celebrated the athletic careers of six seniors recently.
Loren Cate, Amanda Slevin, Cristina Coca, Lindsay Zullo and Marisa Strawn were honored for the four years they spent on the team.
