Flagler PRSSA chapter plans Communication Week

Flagler College will host Communication Week from March 5 to 9. The event will feature several returning and first-time speakers who talk to students about careers in public relations, broadcasting and journalism.

Organizers say overwhelming positive responses from students and last year’s speakers have led the Flagler chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which has volunteered to organize the event again this year, to make a few changes.

Flagler professors premiere film starring students, alums

The “Happy Talk” premiere is over, but that is just the beginning for the film written and directed by two Flagler faculty members.

“We have submitted the film to about 20 film festivals already,” said professor Nadia Ramoutar, the film’s screenwriter and co-producer. “And we’re looking at submitting it to a number of other ones.”


Big changes in Career Services

New director hopes to make four-year planning easier

The Career Services Department has undergone several changes for the new semester, including a new director, Jenny Preffer.

Preffer, who is expecting her fourth child next month, moved to St. Augustine from Virginia Beach, Va. in September 2006, and had no intentions of working.

However, when she came across the newspaper advertisement for the soon-to-be vacant position, she was curious.


Molly’s will relocate to student center

When the $11.6 million student center opens next fall, Molly’s Café, one of the College’s two dining options, will also relocate to the new site. The café will receive a new name and menu in addition to the change in location.

According to Mark Stamper, director of food services at Flagler College, the café will be a “food court-style concept” with separate deli, grill and Starbuck’s coffee stations. The center of the shop will also have a section of convenience store items.
